Reshoots went extremely well, very happy with how the day went. Everyone was well prepared and things went faster than I expected. Now it is time to move on to the edit. I am very excited.
This might be controversial (especially since my brother is the writer) but I believe one it comes to the editing process, you have to throw the script out the window.
You can’t edit to something that is not there. You can only edit to what has been shot. The script guides the shooting process, but in editing you have to use only what has been captured not what you hope was captured.
I guess I’m in a unique position this time around on this project being the Director, Director of Photography and Editor.. I really have no one else to blame but myself! So if I don’t have the coverage I need or something doesn’t fit right, I can’t blame the Director.
I do have a rough cut finished that I already passed on to the composer, but I need to plug in the reshoots and clean some stuff up, then go back and forth making adjustments for music, then a final clean up. So far it is looking good and I can’t wait to share what we have been working on.
