The Shoot

Shocking I know but everything does not always go as planned. As one of my heroes George Lucas once said…

“It’s not a matter of how well can you make a movie. It’s how well can you make it under the circumstance, because there’s always circumstances. You cannot use that as an excuse.”

You have to roll with the punches, and continue the process. Everything cannot grind to a halt because you can’t find a particular cable, or the room isn’t as big as you thought, or the off the grid property you are filming at lost power. These are all hurdles that you are forced to deal with.

I had big plans, big ideas, transitions, lighting set ups… but on the day, in the moment time moves much faster than you expect and the day was flying by. The best thing to do is to keep moving and capture it the best you can.

When I got back, took a breath and looked at the footage, there are things I loved and things I did not. After cobbling together a rough cut, I realized we would need some things reshot. I broke the news to my brother and a re-shoot was scheduled.
