Onru Short Film

Making a movie is a roller coaster with ups and downs and joy and fear. Let’s talk about our experience making this short film.

My brother Christian wrote a script, not unusual, it’s what he does. Normally he is writing plays but this time it was a short film. He approached me one day and said, hey I want to make this short film, and I want you to direct it. I was floored and excited. And then came the panic and fear. So much to do and so much responsibility.

I started by drawing some story boards based on the script. Here are a few examples:

Then we started scouting locations, finding costumes, and a makeup artist. We had to plan, prepare and pack everything we might need for our shoot weekend. I was stressed, what if I forgot something? Our location was in the middle of nowhere. The pressure was on. That weekend was amazing. Shooting and making words, drawings and imaginations come to life. Now comes the real fun, editing. So much to do! Wish us luck!
